French Toast Bake

Chas · March 10, 2013 ·

Saturday’s are a special day around the homestead. We are all home together normally and so breakfast calls for something special and it’s always nice if Moma isn’t in the kitchen for hours.
I came up with this French toast bake this morning that was absolutely delicious, very delicious and pretty healthful.

I started with 2 smallish loaves of french bread. They were a little on the stale side which made it all the better.
I used 5 eggs
2-3 cups of milk… I like our french toast a little on the soft side, so lean towards the 3 cups of milk if you like it that way too.
A generous sprinkling of cinnamon, I would say about 2 teaspoons.
2 teaspoons of vanilla as well, Yum!
Mix all these together well and pour over the broken up bread.
You may need to press the bread around to make sure there is some of the custard mixture on the bread.
Bake at 350* for about 30 min or until set, which means the bread is soaked from the liquid and it isn’t dripping wet.
The egg/milk mixture will set up a bit.
Serve with real maple syrup and good butter.
Delightful!
