Banana Punch

Chas · December 18, 2015 · Leave a Comment

Banana punch is such a special occasion drink. It was so special that it was served at my wedding. Yep, that’s us above… many years ago.
But really, it usually only comes out once a year for us, around Christmas….and maybe a baby shower if we are getting a bonus treat of a baby and banana punch for the second time in a year. Haha
It’s really easy to make, but you want to get your ingredients and make it ahead of time.
Here’s what you need:
6 bananas
1 can of orange juice concentrate (I think one can is 12 oz)
1 can of pineapple juice (I think it’s 64 oz)
1 lemonade concentrate (These are found in the freezer section of the grocery store, they come in 7.5 oz containers, the ingredients only call for 6 oz… but it’s not going to hurt if you use the whole thing)
2 cups sugar
3 cups water
I usually puree the bananas with the sugar and water and then add them to a large bowl/dishpan.
You want everything nice and smooth.
Double bag your mixture in a zip top bag and freeze.
This is something that I am taking to every Christmas this year.
And then we have a little bit left for our Christmas day celebration here at home!
Yippee!!!
When you are ready to serve, take out about an hour prior and allow to thaw slightly in your punch bowl.
Add 2-2 liter ginger ale/sprite/7-up/sierra mist or whatever your favorite lemon-lime soda may be, a bit at a time til use up all your punch concentrate.
You may want to scrape it with a fork or something to thaw a bit faster or just let it thaw as it is. The frozen chunks are my favorite!

YUM!
I hope you enjoy our banana punch!
Merry Christmas!
