Lazy Days Skirt

Chas · November 11, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I joined up for a Sew-a-long with a friend from Twitter. She blogs over at Day To Day. I love her blog because she is incredibly crafty and has fabulous ideas!  When she announced she was going to do a Lazy Days Skirt Sew-a-long, I knew I just had to join in.
So this afternoon after getting Logan’s bag finished and cutting out several more, cooking up some lentils for supper and helping the kids with school… I decided to get Carlie Jean’s skirt made up.
Most of the skirts you will see over at Mel’s blog are so bright and cheery, but being that we have entered fall and I LOVE this time of year, I decided to go in a different direction.
I had this rust colored fabric I bought on close-out just waiting to be made into something lovely and when I thought about it, I knew that this was the project!
The trim I have had for at least 20 years waiting to be made into something… I know it is much older than that, because it was old when I got it from a friend.
The buttons…. I just love em. I know they don’t necessarily match. But I just loved the way they looked.
Another sweet feature is that it is long enough that I believe unless Carlie grows a foot she should be able to wear it next year also.
I love a happy ending to a fun project.
Go by Mel’s blog and see all the other Lazy Days skirts, I am sure they will inspire you to make one yourself. 🙂
My Cup Runneth Over…
