A stroll through the garden...

A week in the garden update:
Things are really coming along. We are now getting squash, zucchini, and sometimes peppers daily. I expect to get tomatoes in the next few weeks. I look forward to gathering flowers as well as an apron full of garden produce.

The butternut squash has started sprawling out big time. Today we actually put up a new trellis system, I can't wait to see how they grow. I adore butternut squash.

Blackberries are in abundance as well, and I have been picking them every day or so. I've put up quite a few jars of blackberry jam.

We still don't have bees... but I hope that is on the list before it gets too much farther down the road.

My companion while picking blackberries early in the morning this week.

I made that arrangement in the old watering can for our church's 80th homecoming this past Sunday... when we were finished with the decor I brought it home and decided it was a great addition to the porch.

And last but not least, the turmeric has sprouted! I am excited to know that I will be able to grow this wonderful food... packed with so much health! It thrills me!
I hope you enjoyed walking through the garden with me.

Carlie's Early Birthday Party

Our Carlie Jean turns 15 in just a few days... but because her birthday falls on the week of July 4th, there just isn't much time to be able to squeeze in a party with everyone vacationing. So, she asked if we could have a party at home a couple of weeks early.

And that's what we did. She picked out the cake and her Aunt Ticky delivered. It was GORGEOUS! And sugar cookies too!

We had volleyball, cornhole, board games, and more.
It was a wonderful evening.

My favorite part was the smiles and laughter that filled our place. It was a lot of work, but so worth the effort!

Lights in the garden

As the garden has been growing and changing, I came across a picture that said something about adding lights to your garden area to enjoy. Carlie had asked if we could have a party at home for her birthday, so I began thinking... "how lovely would it be, if we added lights in the garden for her party?" And that's all it took, I asked for help from those who know more than me about electricity, wiring, building, and before long... my dream was realized.

It turned out so pretty. I just can't get enough of this space. I am oftentimes found out there, even in this horrid humidity we are living in right now in Georgia...
Morning times with my cup of coffee? Bliss.

Evening times as the sun goes down?
Night, when the only lights are those of the garden and the stars above?

This space continues to be a blessing to me on so many levels. I think it is important to make your home and your life a beautiful place to be. And I am grateful to be doing just that on our little patch of earth.

Father's Day Weekend

For Father's Day weekend, my bunch went down to stay with my Dad and family, my Sister and her family on the lake.... I adore being on the water. I love getting up and watching the sun on the water, I love the birds, and the fish, and the critters scurrying around. I love the sounds, I love the coolishness of the morning. I love drinking my coffee in the quietness. I love it. So I was very excited to spend this weekend down on the lake with him for Father's Day.
We rode on the boats, we jumped off the sides, we swam, and wakeboarded, and tubed, and jet skied, we ate, and swam some more, we fished and had a very enjoyable couple of days together!

Wishing we hadn't waited til late to take a picture of the three of us, but at least we got one!
Logan sported the latest in lake fashions.

The kids kayaked... look how smooth that water was in the morning... like glass.

This wren sat on that single post all morning long. and when it would fly away it would come back to that same one!

Kade was the wakeboard champ. He is so good at so many things!

Laying around and having fun being together!

Fishing! They got a nice catfish!

Deacon got one too!!!

We watched... but did not participate in the tubing. haha.

As we were getting ready to leave on Sunday afternoon, a big storm was brewing... it was a wonderful weekend of togetherness and hopefully we can do it again soon!
