A visit to the Apothecary Cabinet

Several of you have asked what I was going to be keeping in my apothecary cabinet. I thought telling you everything might be long and boring, so I will talk about a few things at a time.

Of course, you probably know what an apothecary cabinet is, right? It's a holistic medicine cabinet. Natural healing baby.
Now, while I prefer to use herbs and such for healing when I can. If something is beyond the touch of my tinctures... Go to the doc! I am not a doctor. I'm a Mom! I do the best I can with what I can.
Moving on. ;)

The first thing I am going to share with you is my ACV. Apple Cider Vinegar.
ACV is awesome for sunburns, reactions to lye (just in case!), taking internally to help keep your pH at a healthy balance, dabbing on a bee sting, rinsing your hair (oh yeah, it helps you rid your hair of caked on products), balancing your skin (use it like you would a toner or astringent)... and many more! Apple Cider Vinegar is a blessing. It is fairly inexpensive, even the organic kind, and you can use it for SO many things. It is a MUST in your healthy home!

Another item I keep in my cabinet is elderberries. We have talked about the wonders of elderberry syrup. I've even showed you how to make it! Remember... here's the link.
It is great for soothing a cough and boosting your immune system. I always keep the berries in my cabinet and sometimes I have some syrup made up and it could be housed here as well. Elderberries are great to have on hand!

The last is garlic! Whether in capsule or in raw form. We use a LOT of garlic! When I see that someone is coming down with a cold. Garlic is one of my first go-tos! Garlic can be used as an antibiotic. I have used a clove that is slightly squeezed so the juice will release in ears that are aching. We have used it macerated on bites or stings. It has been used around our house in pill form, so we just swallow or chew it up if we need a dose to help knock out a sickness.
I am amazed at how God gave us so many natural items that we can use to help heal our bodies. I am grateful to learn how they can be used to help us.
A book that I like to use to learn about holistic healing is,

and one that I would like to own...

That is just a small smattering of things I use on a regular basis. I'll be sure to come back and share a few more soon.

What about you? Do you have some favorite herbs that you use for your family? I would love to hear about them! Please leave me a comment and share! I do my best to answer you in the comment section.
