Oh, the weather outside is frightful...

We have been having an abundance of rain. Not just little showers, but buckets of rain. It rained all last night and has rained all day today and will rain into the night tonight.... bringing in some frigid temps also. brrrr
The only rough times are choretimes.... our animals are still hungry despite the weather!
Chore shoes drying off. I am sure the one who wore the crocs had wet feet today.

But, with the ugliness outside, we have been thankfully warm  and cozy inside.
Schooltime is such a treat on days like these.
Winn-Dixie was allowed to come in during the worst part of the storm.
She cozied up Abram while he was setting up his fort.
 I love days at home.
I love having my children home.
Winn-Dixie wants to do some learning too. :)

For the Christmas table...

Well, here it is, finally finished. After a week of sniffles and turkey and counting my blessings, I was able to sew and sew and sew on Saturday and finish this and several other Christmasy projects.
I took these pictures before I sent this through the wash. Let me tell you... with that wonderful cotton batting... oh it comes out so deliciously wrinkly and perfect! I really wish the pictures were taken AFTER the wash. I loved it before, but now it is WONDERFUL!
It is so cute and fun, and I think it looks FABULOUS on my table. :) haha... I might have to make one for me eventually.
Another great feature....
YES! It's reversable!!!
Now, to wrap it up with a bow and nestle it under our tree.
Merry, Merry!

The first *handmade* gift of Christmas...

Like I told you, Lindsey and I began a project on Tuesday.
I quilted it up yesterday and hope to complete the gift today after we finish with our lessons.
I can't wait to take some pictures and show you how the finished project turns out! :)
Tonight, I hope to cast on for my second *handmade* gift of Christmas.  If 'cast-on' gives you a hint. :)
I'm getting quite excited. Seeing some of my list get checked off, little by little.
After working with cotton batting, I now have it on my Christmas list.
It was the first time I have used cotton and it is heavenly.
Love, love, love!!!!

Neat and tidy and ready to use.
I straightened and organized Monday in anticipation for my sewing day with my dear, dear friend Lindsey.  She is my go-to sewing guru. When I can't seem to wrap my brain around a pattern, she usually already knows how to do it.
Yeah, she makes me jealous too. ;) haha
So yesterday, we cut and pieced and rearranged and added and had a good time talking all-the-while.
She taught me a technique that I had not used before and I really like it.
I am hoping to work a little bit more on the project she helped me get going...
Can't wait to show you, once it is finished!
Have a great day! :)

Before I start, I need to finish

Does that make any sense to you? haha
My mind is warped in my own way of thinking so it may not make a lick of sense to anyone... except me!
I am tickled to be able to sit and blog this morning, my beautiful daughter Cameo is making our breakfast and Mom has a few free moments! Woot!
Have I ever mentioned how much I *love* having a teenager????  LOVE! I LOVE it! :)

This is a super, super busy time for us. We are very active in our church, so we have plays and dramas that we are working on... and we also have things to do around our homestead in preparations for the wonderful holiday season.

So... what in the world does my title mean? It means that I want to get in my sewing room and get it organized so I can be more productive for the season.
I spend a lot of time in my sewing room in the early mornings and late evenings of fall and winter.  I try to keep my projects going as much as I can before being burned out completely.
This year, I have quite a few projects on my 'to do' list. One being finishing up some NON-Christmas gifts.
Yes, I still have a couple of baby shower gifts. One being for a babe that is already 6 months old.
Oh my....
As I finish the projects, I will post them here.
For now.... I must go FINISH organizing. :) haha
Have a wonderful day!

It's getting THAT time of year...

I feel like I have just been absent from my little blog home. I'm sorry for those of you who actually still follow or read here. *for that, thank you!*
I have been thinking of new crafts for posting. Some fun, easy things you can do with your children for some sweet, special moments.
I will do my best to take some pictures and post some tutorials soon. I may even post some older tutes in case you are new here.
All is going well around here, just chugging along. Schooling, caring for the animals, cooking, homemaking and all that good stuff.
As you can tell by the picture above, our Christmasy things are making an appearance around our home. We decorate a bit earlier than some, just because it makes things easier as the season rolls along and we just enjoy looking at the pretties a bit longer than those few short weeks after Thanksgiving.
I hope you are all doing well...
May God bless you, each and every one!

Happy Birthday... to me. :)

On this day 35 years ago my Moma had her first child. A 9 lb 5 oz bouncing baby girl.
I am so glad God saw fit to give me to my parents. I am so grateful for the life He has given me.
I hope to have many, many more years on this ole earth... and I hope to enjoy life to the fullest and appreciate all His many blessings.
Thanks to all you, my friends for your comments and sweetness here on our little blog.
You are all little rays of sunshine that brighten my day!

{{thankful thursday 11.4.10}}

I'm almost out of Thursday, so I had better get this in.
A friend of mine on facebook suggested a 30 days of Thankfulness.
Each day post something you are thankful for.
I thought it went hand in hand with my Thankful Thursdays.

Here goes...

My baby boy was baptized this past Sunday.

My baby girl sang a big girl solo in church.
We got to spend time with friends and family over the weekend.

My Eli turned 8!!!!
(here he is dressed as Jack Sparrow)
Sunday night, we had a special 5th Sunday night singing and our drama team (of which my Cameo is part of) performed.
I am so blessed.
Thank you Lord!

Over the weekend...

Sorry it took me so long to get back here, but life has been slightly more than hectic.
Over the weekend my oldest son turned 8!!!!
Yes, I can hardly believe it myself.  What did he want for his birthday?
A Jack Sparrow costume.
haha I know! I would love to say that I made this costume for him... but um, no. It was a purchased gift from his grandparents. :)
We had a quiet evening at home with his favorite meal. Spaghetti, garlic bread, salad and chocolate birthday cake.

Happy Birthday my wonderful son. I love you more than you will EVER know!
